2019, "Harpy Eagle" - marble sculpture
This original white marble sculpture on black gabbro pedestal is hand carved by the Bulgarian national famous contemporary professional sculptor, deeply inspired by naturalism, modernism and abstract art. The Harpy Eagle sculpture is part of his abstract marble animal sculpture series, where his concept seeks for unusual forms in nature. It has an authentic natural charm, mixed with the delicate artistic signature and skills. It brings its beautiful craftsman attention to high fashion detail, precision and top quality. The marble material for the sculpture is quarried from Rhodopi mountains in Bulgaria, near Sandanski town. Like Carrera marble material (quarried from Carrera mountains in Italy) Sandanski white marble type has the same small crystals structure. And because both countries are near to one another, both marbles are formed by the movements of same tectonic plates. While carrera marbe is famous thanks to Michelangelo, Sandanski white marble is famous by Thasos island in Greece. The marble layer from Rhodopi to Thasos goes all along underneath the Earth surface and there are quarries all the way from the Bulgarian mountains to the Greek island. Sandanski while marble has astonishing clear white color from its small crystals structure.
