This original andesite stone sculpture on granite pedestal is one of the latest artworks of the skillful Bulgarian contemporary professional artist, deeply inspired by modernism, neoclassicism and naturalism. The national divinity of the ancient Greeks, Apollo has been variously recognized as a god of music, truth and prophecy, healing, the sun and light, poetry, and more. This artwork is one extraordinary solid stone masterpiece and exquisite modern home décor.
Andesite stone material is a volcanic rock, of intermediate composition, with aphanitic to porphyritic texture. The earth layers had fallen into the mantle, had melted and then pushed back on the surface, where they have cooled down quickly. This brutal process describes perfectly the andesite material. It is also brutally used by human as gravel for highways. The rocks are blasted, crushed and crumbled into small pieces. The artist's concept follows this brutal material characteristics and common attitude and gives it a new harmonious art shape.
